Submit an Abstract for the URNCST Journal Research Methods Primer

Terms and Conditions

The URNCST Journal Research Methods Primer is open to any undergraduate student (BSc, BHSc, BEng, etc.) or professional-undergraduate student (MD, PharmD, DDS, etc.) with an interest in submitting an abstract that demonstrates their preliminary understanding of a research method as provided by the URNCST Journal. By submitting your abstract to URNCST Journal you agree to the following terms and conditions:

○ 1) The author is an undergraduate or professional-undergraduate student at the time during which the research methods primer competition abstract was written and it has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration. Furthermore, you agree to only submit ONE abstract per competition round.

○ 2) By submitting this form, the author gives the URNCST Journal permission to contact them via email regarding their abstract submission and occasional updates about opportunities offered by the URNCST Journal or one of its partners.

○ 3) The author submits their abstract to the URNCST Journal Research Methods Primer Competition with the understanding that, if accepted, they will be paired with a team of students interested in the same research method, and will be invited, and are prepared, to write and revise and full-length research methods primer for the URNCST Journal.

○ 4) The author acknowledges that a fee of $175.00 CAD (or the equivalent in your local currency) plus applicable taxes article processing fee is due to the URNCST Journal at the point of acceptance to participate in the URNCST Journal Research Methods Primer Competition. Furthermore, the author understands that by submitting an abstract, and thereby participating in this competition, that they have the available funds and intention to cover the costs of this article processing fee. The author acknowledges that they will be expected to work under the guidance of their mentor in collaboration with their team to split tasks as equally as possible. All authors understand that their abstract or full-length research methods primer may be accepted or declined throughout the review process. The author understands that the article processing fee is only refundable under the following conditions: 1) that the author, at the discretion of their mentor and/or the editor of the URNCST Journal, is deemed to have not contributed sufficiently to the tasks leading up to the publication of the research methods primer to warrant authorship OR 2) that the research methods primer manuscript is deemed incomplete for submission/unsubmitted following a period of 4 months following the end of block 5 OR 3) is declined for publication following peer-review.

○ 5) The author agrees that all co-authors will be listed in alphabetical order by last name, should their research methods primer manuscript be accepted for publication in the URNCST Journal. An annotation will be visible on the final publication that denotes that all authors contributed equally.

1. After you have read through this entire webpage carefully, please download and complete the Abstract Template for the URNCST Journal Research Methods Primer HERE. Important: The title of your abstract should be identical to the topic you have chosen. Note: If you are unable to download the files, please re-try using the Firefox browser and/or try this backup link.

2. Once you have drafted your abstract and agree to the terms and conditions listed above associated with submitting an abstract, please email the abstract to competition@urncst.com as a MS Word Document file (NOT a PDF). Please ensure that the email subject heading reads "URNCST Journal Research Methods Primer Abstract Submission", and is preferably sent through an institutional email address. Please do NOT create an account on the URNCST Journal website and submit your abstract through the portal. Important Note: Upon submitting your abstract please ensure that you add the domain “@urncst.com” to your safe senders list.

3. Please note that due to the high volume of anticipated submissions received and in fairness to all other participants, each author is limited to ONE submission per research methods primer initiative cycle.
